Position Summary
General Atlantic is seeking a Director, Management Company to join the team. This role will report to the Senior Director, Management Company and will focus on finance transformation, operational scalability, and supporting the firm's growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and actively participate in monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities
- Maintain hands-on responsibility for the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including invoicing, management fee billing, cash application, collections, aging analysis, and reconciliation to the general ledger
- Prepare and review management fee accruals and oversee collection activities related to management fee receivables from investment partnerships and affiliated entities
- Maintain and reconcile intercompany receivables, ensuring accurate recording and timely settlement of related-party transactions
- Prepare and present detailed accounts receivable reports, including aging analyses and cash flow projections, to senior management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting and accounts receivable processes through best practices and automation tools
- Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, including process optimization and systems enhancements
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements, particularly within the accounts receivable function
- Perform account reconciliations and roll forward on key management company accounts, including variance analysis year-over-year and quarter-over-year
- Partner with IT to improve Workday-enabled workflows, reporting, controls, and data integrity across management company operations
- Support preparation of financial data and disclosures for inclusion in 10-K filings and other SEC reporting in coordination with the corporate accounting team
- Assist with government reporting requirements, including U.S. Census surveys, commercial rent tax, and property tax filings
- Mentor junior team members while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations and special projects
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience within public accounting and/or corporate accounting, preferably with a multinational or asset management firm
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with both accrual and cash basis accounting
- Prior experience mentoring, training, or overseeing junior accounting professionals preferred
- Experience performing public company closing processes
- Solid understanding of full-cycle accounts receivable processes including billing, collections, cash application, reconciliation, and reporting
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate across teams and present findings to senior stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas); experience with Workday Financials, Alteryx, Power Query, or Workiva is a plus
- Self-starter with a high level of professional maturity, intellectual curiosity, and a continuous improvement mindset
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented, global environment
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to operate in a hands-on, roll-up-the-sleeves environment while managing competing strategic and operational priorities
