About the role

The Director of Lifecycle Marketing defines and drives long-term strategies to engage, retain, and grow an active customer base. They own key metrics related to engagement, retention, and churn, while leading efforts to automate and personalize communications across channels such as email, SMS, and push notifications. This role partners with cross-functional teams to optimize marketing campaigns, evaluate new platforms, and leverage AI-driven recommendations to deliver exceptional customer experiences. They lead a high-performing team and influence global strategies to maximize lifecycle marketing impact.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Leadership
    • Develop a long-term lifecycle marketing strategy to engage and retain customers through relevant, timely, and targeted communications.
    • Leverage technology and AI to accelerate and scale core capabilities.
    • Define core capabilities, competencies, and roadmap for accelerating maturity.
    • Partner with cross-functional leaders to enable a largely self-service capability.
    • Lead key global lifecycle marketing initiatives to enable results where most needed.
    • Present vision and results to senior leadership.
  • Segmentation, Personalization & Automation
    • Evolve and automate dynamic customer segmentation strategies across journey stages to improve efficiency and performance.
    • Drive lifecycle programs toward automated, trigger-based, and dynamically personalized messaging across channels (Email, SMS, Push).
    • Oversee the Marketing Automation team to enable global technical solutions and evaluate tools/technology that support lifecycle capabilities.
  • Performance Optimization & Analytics
    • Own the measurement framework that guides how program health is evaluated and establishes testing programs for continuous optimization.
    • Generate high-quality client leads and candidate conversions while driving customer retention and lifetime value (LTV).
    • Lead recommendations program and strategy using AI/Machine learning engines to enhance personalization and engagement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Influence marketing, product, corporate services, and IT teams to execute holistic strategies that improve business outcomes.
    • Partner with channel owners to execute campaigns and define business requirements for new capabilities.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to build internal communications strategies using tools like Cerkl.
  • Team Leadership
    • Establish infrastructure for speed and scalability in marketing automation.
    • Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams by fostering accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning for a team of 10 marketers and developers.
    • Build organizational capability through effective talent management, including coaching, development planning, succession planning, and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field required.
  • 8-12 years of direct-to-consumer marketing experience with proven success in strategy and execution of innovative campaigns.
  • Experience within a high-transaction, volume-based business preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and leading high-performing teams.
  • Expertise in lifecycle marketing, automation, and personalization strategies.
  • Experience building processes to streamline operations and team effectiveness.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive organizational changes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and derive actionable insights.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leveraging AI/Machine learning engines for personalization and accelerating automation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
  • Experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, and Salesforce CRM required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay

The typical annual salary range for this position is $176,000 - $230,000 and is negotiable depending upon experience and location. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
