Director Laboratory Services - St. Vincent Medical Center
About the Role
The Director of Laboratory Services oversees all daily laboratory and compliance functions of the Bon Secours Mercy Health assigned region laboratory locations. This role involves strategic and operational planning for all laboratory modalities across multiple sites, managing human, financial, and capital resources, and collaborating with nurse managers, physicians, and other professionals to implement and evaluate patient care standards.

Responsibilities
- Provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight to ensure the achievement of the BSMH mission and values, including exemplary patient and customer experience.
- Manages human, capital, and supply expenses for the laboratory in alignment with BSMH’s strategic plan.
- Leads regional outreach growth, 24-hour hospital operations, and outreach initiatives to increase net revenue.
- Utilizes resources efficiently in line with stewardship values and organizational objectives.
- Monitors and evaluates quality of care in collaboration with medical directors, managers, and quality improvement programs; takes corrective action as needed.
- Develops, recommends, and administers department operating and capital expense budgets; ensures operations stay within budget and implements cost-effective measures.
- Recommends resource acquisition and organization to ensure efficient laboratory services and meets financial goals.
- Ensures a safe working environment compliant with safety standards and disaster plans.
- Promotes performance improvement activities and provides reports, recommendations, and action plans to meet regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CAP).

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (required).
- MLS (Medical Lab Scientist) or MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) Certification by a nationally recognized agency (preferably ASCP).
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership position within a laboratory environment.
