Director Laboratory Services - St. Vincent Medical Center

Oversees all daily laboratory and compliance functions of the Bon Secours Mercy Health assigned region laboratory locations.

Responsibilities

• Provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight to ensure the achievement of the BSMH mission and values, including exemplary patient and customer experience.
• Manages human, capital, and supply expenses for the laboratory consistent with BSMH’s strategic plan.
• Provides planning, direction, and leadership to ensure regional outreach growth, 24-hour hospital operations, and effective outreach operations to grow net revenue.
• Utilizes human, financial, material, and environmental resources consistent with stewardship values and organizational objectives.
• Identifies success factors and determines strategies for achievement; monitors and evaluates quality of care in collaboration with medical directors and leadership.
• Develops, recommends, and administers department operating and capital expense budgets; ensures operations within budget and implements cost-effective measures.
• Recommends acquisition, use, and organization of resources to ensure efficient laboratory services and meets financial goals.
• Ensures a safe working environment compliant with all safety standards and disaster plans.
• Promotes and initiates performance improvement activities; provides reports and action plans to meet regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CAP).
• Communicates regional operations, information, and mission objectives to staff; oversees education, training, supply availability, and competency monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• MLS (Medical Lab Scientist) or MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) Certification by a nationally recognized agency (preferably ASCP).
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership position in a laboratory tech environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education/Healthcare Administration or related field.
