Duties And Responsibilities Of The Position
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the inventory accounting team.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Direct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end inventory accounting close activities.
- Review and approve inventory reserves for excess, obsolete, slow-moving, and damaged inventory.
- Review and approve the sourced standard costing process.
- Prepare and review inventory-related account reconciliations and financial reporting schedules.
- Analyze inventory trends, turnover, reserve adequacy, and manufacturing performance metrics.
- Present financial results and inventory analytics to senior leadership.
- Maintain strong SOX-compliant internal controls over inventory processes and financial reporting ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities related to inventory accounting.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory controls, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with operations and IT to fix any inventory related system issues including system imbalances or finished goods AP issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting department.
Required Experience And Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.
- Significant experience in manufacturing, inventory accounting and cost accounting environments.
- Experience with large ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, or similar.
- CPA certification or public accounting experience preferred.
