Director Hospital Accounting
Job Description
Your Job: In this highly technical, fast-paced, and rewarding position, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to manage the general accounting and budgeting functions for Methodist Dallas Medical Center to ensure that financial reporting needs are met and that financial statements present fairly, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles the results of the hospital's operations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor degree with major in accounting required
- CPA Preferred
- Hospital accounting experience preferred
Job Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of the monthly close for assigned hospital to assure completion of the monthly financial and statistical reports in a timely and accurate manner, including coordination with facilities’ administrative and operational teams and centralized finance team.
- Cook up the annual operating budget for assigned facilities, including oversight of model tables used for revenue/volume budgets, provides budget training for department leaders and assists leaders with their budgets, attends budget planning and review meetings, reviews overall accuracy of budget and related spreads.
- Aid in the preparation of annual audit schedules, year-end account reconciliations and interface with auditors.
- Routine ongoing analysis of balance sheet asset and liability accounts for various entities.
- Coordinate facilities’ year-end count of physical inventory, extensions, and records necessary adjustments and ensures the accuracy of records.
- Communicate with facility and corporate executive leadership on the status of the accounting operation and budgets.
- Provide facility’s administrative and operational teams with financial training and support.
- Prepare journal entries and budgets related to physician professional fees. Provide management direction to professional and clerical accounting staff, approve journal entries, assign duties, hire and train new employees.
- Supervise preparation and ensure the accuracy of all reports issued by staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
