Role Overview
GTI is seeking an Accounting Director to help build and scale the accounting function during a period of rapid growth. This role will report to the Controller and will be responsible for strengthening accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, close processes, and manufacturing cost visibility across a growing multi-site environment. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can create structure, improve processes, partner cross-functionally, and help build a scalable accounting team as the company continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, AP/AR, and related accounting operations
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
- Build stronger processes, procedures, and reporting cadence across the accounting function
- Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation
- Support external audit, tax, compliance, and year-end reporting needs
- Identify gaps in current accounting processes and implement scalable solutions
- Partner with the Controller on financial reporting, accounting structure, and process improvements
- Partner with operations, finance, and leadership to improve manufacturing cost visibility
- Support project costing, job costing, inventory reporting, fixed assets, and margin analysis
- Help develop reporting that gives leadership better visibility into project and operational performance
- Support multi-entity and multi-site accounting as the company grows
- Help evaluate, build, and develop the accounting team
- Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff as the department scales
- Support ERP, systems, reporting, and workflow improvements
- Operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 2+ years of Public accounting experience, ideally Big 4, national, or large regional firm
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, close processes, reconciliations, and internal controls
- Experience leading or improving accounting operations in a growing or changing environment
- Prior experience managing people or building accounting team structure
- Strong Excel and ERP/accounting systems experience
- Able to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner with operations, finance, and executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA strongly preferred
- Manufacturing, project-based, construction, or job-costing environment experience preferred
- Experience with inventory, cost accounting, fixed assets, project accounting, or manufacturing financial reporting
- Multi-entity or multi-site accounting experience
- Experience implementing or improving ERP systems, reporting tools, controls, or close processes
- Experience building scalable accounting processes in a fast-growth company
