About the role

We're hiring a Director of Growth Strategy—a senior individual contributor role designed to be the strategic nerve center of the growth organization. This person synthesizes signals across marketing channels, sales channels, product, and customer data to surface high-impact growth opportunities and threats before they become obvious. The role operates without execution ownership or channel bias, with direct access to the executive team. The primary deliverable is insight and recommendation that drives leadership decisions.

This is not a channel ownership, brand strategy, or data analytics role. It sits at the intersection of all three and exists because no single function can see the full picture alone. The role reports to the VP of Growth Marketing and partners closely with channel owners, Creative, Analytics, Product, and Finance.

Responsibilities

  • In Your First 45 Days:
    • Get up to speed on Hatch's business: channel mix, unit economics, customer segments, subscription dynamics, and key performance drivers across DTC and retail.
    • Build a clear view of current growth performance across marketing, retail, and DTC—identifying critical gaps and high-potential opportunities.
    • Partner with Analytics, channel owners, and Finance to understand data structure and key blind spots.
    • Surface 3–4 high-impact opportunities or risks with clear hypotheses and initial recommendations.
  • By 90 Days:
    • Regularly synthesize inputs across paid media, retail, DTC, market signals, and customer behavior to identify key growth opportunities and risks.
    • Translate complex or incomplete data into clear narratives for leadership decision-making.
    • Challenge assumptions across the growth organization with an outside-in perspective.
    • Establish a consistent cadence of insight sharing to keep the executive team focused.
  • After Your First Year:
    • Play a central role in shaping Hatch's growth strategy, contributing to annual planning and long-term investment decisions.
    • Identify step-change opportunities across channels, customer segments, geographies, and new growth levers.
    • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the executive team for ambiguous growth questions.
    • Expand scope as Hatch grows: international expansion, new product categories, audience strategies, and revenue models.

Requirements

  • 8–12 years of experience in growth strategy, marketing strategy, or business strategy with significant consumer brand exposure.
  • Meaningful experience at a DTC consumer brand (consulting background is a complement, not a substitute).
  • Proven track record of independently structuring and delivering analyses that drove major business decisions.
  • Experience presenting strategic recommendations directly to C-suite or board-level leadership.
  • Genuine fluency in consumer growth channels: paid social, search, influencer, retail, Amazon, DTC, and subscription economics.
  • Strong commercial instincts: think naturally in CAC, LTV, payback period, contribution margin, and channel ROI.
  • IC analytical self-sufficiency—able to build analysis from raw data when needed.
  • Executive communication skills: distill complex, multi-variable insights into clear points of view.
  • Comfort with SQL, Excel/Sheets, and BI platforms, focusing on interpretation and synthesis.
  • High curiosity, strong business judgment, and ability to identify what matters in fast-moving environments.
  • Experience scaling a consumer business from early growth stage through significant revenue scale ($15–200M+ run rate preferred).

Benefits

  • 100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees (80% for dependents, including domestic partners).
  • Meaningful equity—you’re an owner here.
  • 401(k) match (no vesting schedule).
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • 16 free therapy sessions (for you + one other adult in your life).
  • Financial support for family planning.
  • Remote office + monthly internet reimbursement.
  • Friends & family discounts on Hatch products.
  • Exclusive discounts on travel, entertainment, and top retail brands.
  • Spontaneous perks and a collaborative, fun team culture.
