What You Will Be Doing
Reports to Chief Academic Officer
Summary: Administrative leadership role responsible for strategic oversight of Global Education and Global Impact programing at HSS.
- Reports to Chief Academic Officer
- Administers programs, expands HSS’s international reach, and sustains relationships
- Works closely with medical leadership and the development team to secure funding for global initiatives
- Create and support the Global Health Humanitarian Committee which will establish processes for awarding the limited resources allocated to humanitarian programing and for ensuring programs meet HSS’s standards and goals
- Maintains relationships with international organizations and establishes new partnerships as opportunities arise
- Evaluates programs and makes recommendations on whether to continue partnerships long-term
- Partner with the medical and business leadership teams at HSS to pursue international partnerships in accordance with institutional goals
- Designs and implements long-term development plans that align with the institution’s mission and financial goals
- Establishes the application process and criteria set for humanitarian initiatives
- Critically evaluates business plans and budgets to make recommendations to the Global Health Humanitarian Committee
- Staffs various oversight committees with appropriate physicians and administrators
- Partners with Development to establish annual funding for humanitarian work
- Supports grant writing to fund specific initiatives as needed
- Ensures philanthropic funds are appropriately allocated and budgets are followed
- Evaluates the return on investment of global health initiatives
- Creates central resources for logistical support for funded opportunities (e.g., physician licensing requirements)
- Develops annual reports for various stakeholder groups detailing the work and impact of global health programs, including financial reporting
- Manages a team of program administrators, relationship managers, and others to successfully implement and sustain programs
- Works closely with Academics, Medical Staff, Strategy & Business Development, Innovation, and other departments to evaluate and operationalize programs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in nonprofits or foundations, global health, development, and/or grant writing
- Strong interpersonal and public speaking abilities
- Strong written communication skills
- Experience in grant writing
- Financial stewardship, including budget development
- Strategic thinking and the ability to evaluate initiatives against institutional goals
- Ability to manage competing deadlines
- Experience managing teams
