Director - Franchise Banking Portfolio Manager

About the role

The Director – Corporate, Specialty and Government PM is a senior portfolio management role responsible for overseeing a portfolio of commercial loans within the Corporate, Specialty, and Government Banking group. The Director ensures underwriting quality, portfolio monitoring, and portfolio administration while collaborating with internal partners such as Relationship Management, Credit Administration, Capital Markets, Treasury Management, and other product partners to optimize customer relationships. The Director serves as a subject matter expert in their industry coverage.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex commercial loans in accordance with Huntington credit policies.
• Monitor a portfolio of commercial loans, proactively identifying emerging risks and exceptions.
• Perform portfolio administration tasks, including managing delinquencies, collateral exceptions, borrowing base and covenant compliance, product renewals, and other applicable duties.
• Attend client calls (virtual or in-person) with Relationship Management and other Bank partners as applicable.
• Establish as the secondary bank contact for the portfolio of covered clients.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market and industry trends through research using available resources.
• Assist with training and/or mentoring Analyst, Associate, and Associate Director level colleagues.
• Provide accurate and timely front-end guidance to Relationship Management colleagues based on Huntington credit policies and credit culture.
• Review and negotiate credit documentation in consultation with legal counsel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 8+ years of experience in an underwriting or commercial banking environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal credit training
• Experience in the syndicated loan market
• Proficiency in S&P Capital IQ
• High level of professionalism and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Microsoft Excel)

Exempt Status: Yes (not eligible for overtime pay)
