About the Role
The Director of Finance is the financial leader for a manufacturing plant, partnering with plant leadership and corporate finance to drive financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. This role oversees financial planning, accounting, cost management, reporting, and business decision support.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary financial partner to plant leadership, providing strategic guidance and operational support.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
- Analyze financial performance, manufacturing costs, KPIs, and operational trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Oversee plant accounting, including standard costing, inventory, labor and overhead allocations, BOM management, and cost rolls.
- Partner with operations and supply chain to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance profitability.
- Evaluate capital investments, new products, and operational initiatives through financial modeling and ROI analysis.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Manage inventory and fixed asset accounting, including physical inventories, valuation, depreciation, and capital expenditures.
- Develop, mentor, and lead the finance team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships with operations, procurement, supply chain, HR, and IT.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Prior experience as a Plant Controller, Operations Controller, or manufacturing finance leader.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations or matrix organizations preferred.
- Background in manufacturing, consumer products, industrial products, distribution, or similar operational environments.
- Experience with capital projects, system implementations, or acquisitions is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Pay
This position offers a base salary range of $160,000 - $190,000, with bonus potential.
