About the Role

The Director, EHR Applications is a member of the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) IT Service Line Leadership team. This role partners with operational counterparts to contribute to and understand strategic goals, working with IT leadership to execute and maintain the technology roadmap for the departments they oversee with accountability for enterprise-wide results. The Director provides leadership, promotes collaboration, and ensures customer satisfaction, fostering strong team cohesion and positive morale. This position requires a strong understanding of the EHR system and healthcare landscape, with responsibilities spanning mission-critical enterprise and departmental systems across all divisions of BILH. The role includes financial management and adherence to the BILH IT mission and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the execution of work set forth by the IT Senior Leadership team to support the mission and vision of health information technology application management, fostering a business-oriented culture driven by continual service improvement techniques.
  • Owns understanding of upcoming EHR roadmap features and vets them with operational and IT leadership.
  • Oversees the implementation of EHR applications and related solutions.
  • Contributes to strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation, and support of EHR systems that fulfill business needs.
  • Ensures excellent customer service and adherence to SLAs, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manages resource allocation within the direct organizational chart and partners with other EHR leaders to impact prioritization.
  • Directly supports EHR application projects, day-to-day operations, and break-fix issues across BILH.
  • Monitors department functions to ensure compliance with professional standards and state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Handles HR aspects of team management, including talent acquisition, retention, reviews, and performance improvement activities.
  • Works with EHR Directors to provide education and training for well-implemented EHR systems.
  • Manages contract staff as necessary.
  • Serves on hospital planning and policymaking committees to align EHR functions with organizational policies.
  • Directs and supports managers with functional area responsibilities, including hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews.
  • May take on additional leadership roles, such as project roles for BILH-level projects or serving as a key contact/liaison for IT vendors and specific hospital or BILH departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Certification in 1 or more Epic Applications.
  • 5+ years of proven experience (demonstrating career progression) working in an Information Services Department or software vendor organization within the healthcare industry.
  • 2+ years of leadership and staff management experience.
  • Experience successfully managing and leading a team of information technology staff (direct/indirect reports) in both in-person and remote environments.
  • Ability to make decisions with significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a major department or multiple departments.
  • Participates in decisions on overall strategy and direction of the organization.
  • Strong skills and technical capabilities in several IT domains.
  • Solution-oriented with proven experience leveraging strong technical skills to ideate, identify, explain, advocate, and express solution options for complex issues.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other web-based applications.
  • Strong understanding of Epic functionality and processes.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of Epic implementation or management experience.

Pay

$180,960.00 USD - $216,320.00 USD annual base salary range. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
