The Director, Cost & Commercial Management leads, assembles, and supervises the Cost & Commercial Management team on projects for our Los Angeles office and/or across a major client program. The Director is responsible for recruitment, training, and development of the team, leads new business planning, and demonstrates strong fiscal acumen in the management of their assigned business profit center or client. This position also prepares Fee Proposals, negotiates Professional Services Agreements, and provides quality assurance to project cost estimates. The Director is a recognized leader in the provision of Cost & Commercial Management, participates in thought leadership in their market, and has the ability to manage complex accounts and projects. The role may have up to five direct reports at the Senior Cost Manager and Associate Director level.

Responsibilities

  • Consult executive-level existing clientele, prioritizing client needs and showcasing services that have made Cumming an industry leader.
  • Increase services to existing clientele by providing solutions and developing new revenue-generating business.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and development of diverse and talented team members.
  • Partner with other Cumming service-line leaders to provide an integrated project approach and differentiate Cumming from competitors.
  • Prepare fee proposals and negotiate professional services agreements.
  • Provide quality assurance to cost estimates before submittal to clients.
  • Provide suggestions to Cumming senior leadership on cost management operations and company, regional, and sector goal setting.
  • Oversee quality of team output and coach for excellent performance.
  • Grow revenue in diverse service offerings or markets.
  • Ensure fiscal performance aligns with company goals.
  • Provide timely business reporting for forecasts and other requirements.
  • Interpret company results and P&L for the area of responsibility and report to senior management.
  • Mentor and lead team development.
  • Approve invoices and pursue accounts receivable with Finance & Accounting.
  • Set strategy for business development and marketing.
  • Provide organizational leadership in area of responsibility.
  • Maintain attendance at work during normal business hours.

Requirements

  • Education: BS in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Experience: 9 to 12 years in Cost & Commercial Management, including 5+ years leading client expectations and managing a business unit.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accreditation – MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, CPE or equivalent.

Pay

The salary range for this full-time role is $152,800.00–$213,933.36 per year. Ranges are determined based on position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good-faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
