About the Role

The Director of Career Services is responsible for the supervision and management of the Career Services Department, ensuring quality career services are delivered to all students and graduates. This role provides departmental leadership, vision, goal setting, and drives outcomes to help students transition successfully into their chosen fields.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure monthly “Career Connection Workshops” are conducted for every class.
  • Complete initial assessments with all students within the specified time frame.
  • Collaborate with the education department to ensure Career Planning classes include all elements for successful placement, such as:
    • Professional resume development
    • Entry-level job interviewing skills through class participation and mock interviews
    • Proficiency in job search techniques
  • Complete required exit paperwork in group settings and one-on-one sessions.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions with students.
  • Document all correspondence between the career services department and students, graduates, or employers in CampusVue.
  • Ensure compliance with state, institutional, and programmatic accreditation regulations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employers to develop externship and job placement opportunities.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate campus Program Advisory Committee meetings to ensure compliance with state and accreditation agencies.
  • Assist in resume preparation and development with instructors and students.
  • Interview, hire, and train new department staff as applicable.
  • Communicate job expectations clearly and frequently to staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in a related field from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or 2 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of management experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in staffing and/or placement environments.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated success collaborating with diverse groups.
  • Ability to lead and work in an observation/coaching-style environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products and general computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • Previous management experience in the placement/staffing industry.
  • Previous experience as a campus-based Career Services Director.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
