Director - Career Services-MMC

Job Summary

The Director of Career Services is responsible for supervision and management of the Career Services Department. This position ensures quality careers services are delivered to all students and graduates, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills for successful transitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures monthly “Career Connection Workshops” are made to every class.
• Ensures the completion of initial assessments with all students within the specified time frame.
• Provides for a collaborative effort with the education department to ensure Career Planning classes provide students with all needed elements for a successful placement outcome.
• Responsible for completing required exit paperwork, both in group settings and one-on-one sessions.
• Regularly conducts one-on-one coaching sessions with students.
• Ensures documentation in CampusVue of all correspondence between the career services department and a student/graduate/employer.
• Ensures compliance with state, institutional, and programmatic accreditation regulations.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with employers to develop partnership opportunities for externships and job placement.
• Participates in and/or facilitates campus Program Advisory Committee meetings to ensure compliance with state and accreditation agencies.
• Affords assistance in resume preparation and development working with instructors and students.
• Interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department, as applicable.
• Achieves staff results by clearly and frequently communicating job expectations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Required

• Associate Degree in a related field from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• 2 years related experience.
• Minimum 1 year management experience.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of and experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in staffing and/or placement environment.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse groups of employees and customers.
• Ability to lead and work in an observation/coaching style environment.
• Strong organizational and problem-resolution skills.
• Good computer skills, including MS Office products.

Experience and Education Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Previous Management experience in the placement/staffing industry.
• Previous experience as a campus-based Career Services Director.
