About the role
The Director, Business Development and Commercial Strategy serves as a key leader in advancing the mission of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. This role involves overseeing the development and growth of collaborative and commercial opportunities that align with institutional strategy and vision. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Industry Ventures within the Office of the Chief Scientific Officer, this position requires significant external visibility and direct engagement with industry and institutional leadership at the most senior levels.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and growth of collaborative and commercial opportunities that align with institutional strategy and vision.
- Lead a team of business development professionals.
- Represent the institution at national industry conferences and on institutional committees.
Requirements
- A minimum of ten years of demonstrated success in business development, licensing, or commercial strategy within or in partnership with the biopharmaceutical industry.
- An established professional network across biopharma, venture capital, and academic medicine.
- The ability to synthesize complex scientific, technical, and financial information and advance opportunities with sound judgment, strategic acumen, and a high degree of relationship intelligence.
- An advanced degree in business administration, health administration, public health, biomedical science, or an equivalent discipline.
