A Brief Overview
The Director of Business Development & Growth is responsible for leading and advancing enterprise-wide business development efforts across Stormont Vail Health, including Topeka, regional markets, and virtual care. Reporting to the System Director of Strategy & Business Development, this role focuses on identifying, evaluating, structuring, and executing growth opportunities that align with Stormont Vail Health's strategic priorities.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Required: Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Experience Qualifications
- 5 years Experience in healthcare business development, strategy, consulting, corporate development or related field.
Required: Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level presentation skills.
Required: Strong financial acumen with experience developing pro formas, business plans, and investment analyses.
Required: Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives and drive execution in a matrixed organization.
Required: Demonstrated experience evaluating, structuring, and advancing healthcare growth initiatives.
Preferred: Prior experience with an integrated health system, regional health network or physician enterprise.

What you will do
- Lead business development activities across Stormont Vail Health under the direction of the System Director of Strategy & Business Development.
Identify, source, and evaluate growth opportunities including new services, service line expansion, ambulatory development, acute care opportunities, affiliations, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, regional partnerships, and market-entry strategies.
Conduct market assessments, competitive analyses, and opportunity scans to identify unmet needs, growth potential, and strategic fit across Topeka and regional markets.
Develop and evaluate business cases, including financial pro formas, volume assumptions, investment requirements, operating models, and implementation considerations.
Assess strategic, financial, operational, clinical, and regulatory viability of proposed initiatives and provide clear recommendations to leadership.
Recommend appropriate business models and partnership structures that align incentives, manage risk, and support long-term sustainability.
Partner with finance, legal, operations, physicians, and executive leadership to advance opportunities.
Drive projects across the finish line by maintaining momentum, managing timelines, coordinating stakeholders, and supporting implementation planning.
Develop and maintain long-range business development and growth plans for priority markets, service lines, and strategic growth platforms.
Support physician and provider growth strategies, including practice development, access expansion, alignment models, and recruitment-related business planning.
Identify and evaluate innovative care models, partnership structures, and market opportunities that enhance access, strengthen competitiveness, and support regional growth.
Prepare executive-level summaries, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership and Board consideration.
Build and maintain productive relationships with external stakeholders including community organizations, physician groups, health systems, and strategic partners.
Track post-implementation performance of growth initiatives and support course correction as needed.
Collaborate closely with strategy, marketing, operations, and regional leadership to align business development priorities with enterprise strategic planning and market execution.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Strategy & Business Development function.
