Director, Brand & Social Media
About the role
We're looking for a Director of Brand and Social Media to join our dynamic team. This role is key to driving financial and brand growth, fostering emotional connections, and building long-term equity for Petco.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own the holistic owned-brand strategies aligned to company goals and customer insights.
- Oversee partnerships, social media, and public relations to drive financial and brand growth goals.
- Lead brand campaigns that drive emotional connection and build long-term equity.
- Ensure consistent brand expression across all channels (social, digital, in-store, experiential).
- Define and execute the social media strategy across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, emerging channels).
- Oversee influencers, community management, real-time engagement, and customer interactions to build loyal communities.
- Monitor trends, sentiment, and platform innovation to keep the brand at the forefront of culture.
- Lead the creation of compelling content that inspires, informs, and connects with audiences.
- Collaborate with Creative and external agencies to produce on-brand photo, video, and editorial content.
- Establish a content calendar aligned with seasonal initiatives, brand moments, and social trends.
- Build and scale influencer and creator partnerships that amplify brand storytelling and drive measurable impact.
- Identify, negotiate, and manage influencer relationships, campaigns, and collaborations.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of brand, social, and influencer marketing professionals.
- Partner with Retail, E-commerce, PR, and Product teams to ensure integrated, customer-centric marketing campaigns.
- Set KPIs, track performance, and analyze results to inform strategies.
- Continuously optimize content, messaging, and campaigns based on data, insights, and customer feedback.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field; MBA a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in brand marketing, social media, or related roles, ideally within retail, lifestyle, or consumer brands.
- Proven experience building iconic brands and leading major social media and influencer programs.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and storytelling skills.
- Deep understanding of social media platforms, content creation, paid social media strategies, and emerging trends.
- Experience working with creative teams, agencies, and influencer management platforms.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
- Passion for innovation, culture, community, and customer experience.
