For our client, a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space, we are seeking a Director of Automation to join their team. This role will lead operational priorities where safety, quality, compliance, and execution discipline are central to success. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a life sciences environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Responsibilities
- Lead automation initiatives for a U.S. growth project in drug manufacturing
- Define automation strategies and digital manufacturing roadmaps
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure automation is integrated into designs
- Manage commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities for automation systems
- Oversee vendor and integrator performance for timely project execution
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and data integrity requirements
- Establish a long-term automation support model for operational handover
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field; advanced degree preferred
- 12+ years leading automation initiatives in GMP-regulated environments
- Experience with major capital projects and facility start-ups
- Strong proficiency in automation technologies like MES, SCADA, and batch control architectures
- Knowledge of GMP regulations and industrial cybersecurity standards
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively
- PMP, GAMP, or related technical certifications are preferred

Pay
$203,400 – $237,300 annually
