Major Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership & Performance
- Provide leadership and daily oversight of ambulatory clinic operations to ensure efficient, patient-centered workflows, high-quality care, and operational excellence.
- Makes sure key operational outcomes are improved by monitoring and partnering with key departments to improve access, scheduling, registration, office operations, and ancillary workflows to optimize patient flow and service delivery.
- Reviews ambulatory performance metrics, identifies trends, and develops action plans to improve key operational outcomes.
- Oversees implementation of service expansion opportunities and operational improvements in collaboration with Finance, IS, HR, Compliance, and other departments.
- Financial & Resource Management
- Develops, recommends, and manages annual operating budgets for assigned ambulatory areas.
- Ensures achievement of productivity, financial, and volume targets; manages expenses, staffing, supply utilization, and resource allocation.
- Conducts financial analyses, evaluates variances, develops corrective action plans, and supports revenue cycle optimization.
- Promotes team understanding of financial drivers and accountability for unit/clinic performance.
- Leadership, Human Resources & Staff Development
- Recruits, develops, and retains high-performing staff; promotes a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable work environment.
- Oversees performance evaluations, orientation, competency assessment, training, coaching, and corrective actions as needed.
- Supports caregiver engagement through communication, recognition initiatives, and action plans informed by feedback and employee surveys.
- Maintains knowledge of HR policies, labor laws, and union contracts as applicable.
- Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Supports and coordinates quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Ensures adherence to Joint Commission, DPH, CMS, and other regulatory/accreditation standards.
- Promotes a safe care environment for patients, families, and caregivers.
- Implements and monitors compliance with policies, procedures, and organizational standards.
- Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborates with Medical Directors, Division Chiefs, Ambulatory Physician Leaders, and Senior Leadership on strategic planning and goal setting.
- Participates in committees, workgroups, and system-wide initiatives.
- Fosters strong relationships with internal leaders and community partners to support care coordination, referral relationships, and service integration.
- Supports system initiatives related to population health, clinical integration, and patient experience.
Position Qualifications
- Licenses/Certifications/Educations Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field. Master’s degree in Healthcare, Nursing, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience/Skills Required: Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in an ambulatory or healthcare operations environment. Proven ability to lead teams, manage operations, and drive improvements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to review and interpret statistical and financial data. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and oversee financial performance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with physicians, staff, and leaders.
- Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work is primarily sedentary, performed in office and ambulatory patient care environments. Regular on-site presence is required to support operations and staff.
