About the role

The Program Director Adult Only Households is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and implementation of AOH Outreach and Housing services in Region 4, including the Hypothermia Program, Medical Outreach, and Street Outreach initiatives. This role ensures that services are delivered in alignment with federal, state, and local guidelines, including Continuum of Care (CoC), HUD, and community standards, to effectively serve individuals experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and daily oversight of Hypothermia shelter operations, Medical Outreach services, and Street Outreach teams.
  • Ensure all programs operate in compliance with HUD, Continuum of Care (CoC), and local jurisdiction requirements.
  • Develop and implement program policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor program performance outcomes, ensuring data-driven decision-making and continuous quality improvement.
  • Utilize HMIS to provide a record of all guest transactions in the Hypothermia Prevention Program.
  • Respond to crises and conflicts and ensure appropriate interventions.
  • Travels between Hypothermia Prevention Program hosting venues, outreach locations and makes home visits to meet program participants as well as works an adjusted work schedule including evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Represents FACETS in community meetings, coordinated entry system meetings and other collaborative forums; build and maintain relationships with housing providers, community partners and stakeholders.
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation in the HMIS Homeless Management and Information Systems (HMIS).
  • Ensures compliance with Fairfax County Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH) grant requirements, FACETS Program policies, and HUD regulations.
  • Prepares proposals, reports, and statistics for submission to funding sources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in homeless services, housing programs, or related field with knowledge of current methods/approaches to address needs.
  • Two years of supervisory and/or program management experience.
  • Knowledge or understanding of tenant’s rights and responsibilities as well as “strengths based” case management preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to schedule and manage workload sufficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with HMIS or other databases maintaining case records and to facilitate data collection.
  • Excellent data entry and data quality skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Public speaking experience and strong public speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including Microsoft Excel, or related software.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and staggered shifts as needed to support shelter operations.
  • Ability to lift items weighing 50 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, good driving record, and personal car insurance.
  • Must be able to drive 15 passenger van.
  • Must pass criminal background and Child Protective Services background checks.

Qualifications

$70,000-$80,000 annually.
