About the role
Emergency Cellphone Responder (E-Cell) positions provide 1:1 support to adults with developmental disabilities in their home and throughout their community. Responsibilities include responding to emergency calls from support staff, discussing emergency supports with clients' families, and supporting staff with anything out of the ordinary.
Responsibilities
- Organize coverage for open shifts with our clients
- Respond to emergency calls from support staff
- Discuss emergency supports with clients’ families as needed
- Support staff with anything out of the ordinary
- Client Support: Provide emotional support and companionship, get exercise and walks, do arts and craft projects, connect with friends and loved ones virtually, meal planning and cooking, light cleaning, personal and intimate care, wheelchair lifts and transfers, grocery shopping and other errands
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years experience working in the field of human services preferred
- An understanding and commitment to the philosophy of inclusion, access, and consumer-driven services
- The ability to work cooperatively with consumers, their support systems, employers, and other agencies
- The ability to solve problems independently and as part of a team
- The willingness to commit to a minimum of one year on the E-Cell team
Qualifications
- Valid California driver’s license, a driving record that meets agency standards, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle
- Part-time position with a 24-hour on-call schedule
- Initial 16 hours of paid training with clients per week

Pay
- $28.62 per hour during support hours
- $75 stipend for each 24 hour shift of on-call on weekdays
- $125 stipend for each 24 hour shift of on-call on weekend days
- Four hours of training shifts paid at $28.62 per hour are guaranteed for each 24 hour on-call shift
Schedule
- Tuesdays - North County (9:00AM Tuesday - 9:00AM Wednesday)
- Wednesdays- North County (9:00AM Wednesday - 9:00AM Thursday)
Locations
- Working primarily in the North County region: Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Hayward
- Our agency supports clients throughout Alameda County
