Direct Support Professional Senior - Behavior Modification Assistant
About the role
The Direct Support Professional Senior job class supports individuals in short- and long-term housing programs. These individuals may have intellectual disabilities, mental illness, brain injury, and other emotional, behavioral, and medical complexities. Key responsibilities include assessing individual needs, developing and implementing support plans, evaluating outcomes, and responding therapeutically to challenging behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Assess individual needs through direct care duties
- Develop and implement residential and habilitation support plans
- Evaluate and document outcomes, modify plans as needed
- Respond therapeutically using de-escalation strategies and positive behavior supports
- Support individuals in various settings including medical appointments, community outings, recreational activities, and spiritual events
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and agency policies
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and/or co-occurring diagnoses
- Experience with verbal de-escalation strategies and working with individuals who exhibit aggressive behaviors
- Clear communication skills to understand and communicate complex services with community members, employers, and teams
- Basic math and computer skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to perform all physical/essential requirements with or without reasonable accommodation
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a formal training/certification/education in a related field (e.g., CNA, PCA, Child Development, First Aid, CPR)
- Certified Nursing Assistant experience working in a group home, nursing home, assisted living, or similar setting
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and positive behavior supports
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills
- Physical stamina and flexibility to perform tasks in various environments

Pay
$24.54 - $31.43/hour
Schedule
Shifts available: Day, rotating (day/evening combination), or overnight. Shift differential for hours between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
