About the role

The Direct Support Professional Senior (Behavior Modification Assistant) works in our short- and long-term housing programs, supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and other behavioral/emotional complexities. Responsibilities include assessing needs, developing and implementing support plans, evaluating outcomes, and responding therapeutically to challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Assess individual needs through direct care duties
  • Develop and implement residential and habilitation support plans
  • Evaluate and document outcomes, modify plans as needed
  • Respond therapeutically using de-escalation strategies and positive behavior supports
  • Support individuals in achieving their highest quality of life and personal growth
  • Collaborate with community members, employers, and teams to understand and communicate complex services

Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and/or co-occurring diagnoses
  • Experience with verbal de-escalation strategies and working with individuals who exhibit aggressive behaviors
  • Clear communication skills
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to perform physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Formal training/certification in related fields (CNA, PCA, Child Development, First Aid, CPR)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant experience in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living, or similar settings
