About the role
The Direct Support Professional Senior (Behavior Modification Assistant) works in our short- and long-term housing programs, supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and other behavioral/emotional complexities. Responsibilities include assessing needs, developing and implementing support plans, evaluating outcomes, and responding therapeutically to challenging behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Assess individual needs through direct care duties
- Develop and implement residential and habilitation support plans
- Evaluate and document outcomes, modify plans as needed
- Respond therapeutically using de-escalation strategies and positive behavior supports
- Support individuals in achieving their highest quality of life and personal growth
- Collaborate with community members, employers, and teams to understand and communicate complex services
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and/or co-occurring diagnoses
- Experience with verbal de-escalation strategies and working with individuals who exhibit aggressive behaviors
- Clear communication skills
- Basic math and computer skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to perform physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Formal training/certification in related fields (CNA, PCA, Child Development, First Aid, CPR)
- Certified Nursing Assistant experience in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living, or similar settings
