About the role
The Direct Support Professional Senior job class supports individuals in short- and long-term housing programs. These individuals may have intellectual disabilities, mental illness, brain injury, and other emotional, behavioral, and medical complexities. Responsibilities include assessing individual needs, developing and implementing support plans, evaluating outcomes, and responding therapeutically to challenging behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Assess individual needs through direct care duties
- Develop and implement residential and habilitation support plans
- Evaluate and document outcomes, modify plans as needed
- Respond therapeutically using de-escalation strategies and positive behavior supports
- Support individuals in various settings such as group homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities
- Collaborate with community members, employers, and teams to ensure effective communication
- Ensure cultural responsiveness and effectiveness in working with diverse populations
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and/or co-occurring diagnoses
- Experience with verbal de-escalation strategies and working with individuals who exhibit aggressive behaviors
- Clear communication skills to understand and communicate complex services
- Basic math and computer skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to perform physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a related field (CNA, PCA, Child Development, First Aid, CPR, etc.) preferred
- Training/certification in related fields preferred
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and positive behavior supports
- Basic understanding of medical and behavioral health concepts

Pay
$24.54 - $31.43/hour
Schedule
Shifts available: Day, rotating (day/evening combination) OR overnight. Shift differential for hours between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am!
