Direct Support Professional- Residential

About the role

The ARC of the Greater Hudson Valley is seeking Direct Support Professionals - Residential in Sullivan County and Orange County, NY. This position provides support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a group home setting.

Responsibilities

• Train and guide individuals with daily living skills
• Review and follow each individual's plan of protective oversight and Individual Service Plan
• Supervise individuals as needed to ensure safety
• Absorb and monitor Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, showering, toileting, personal care, dressing, etc.
• Converse with individuals to reinforce positive behaviors and promote social interaction
• Prepare and assist with meals according to prescribed diets
• Ambulate and transfer individuals as needed throughout the day
• Transport individuals to and from daily programs and community outings
• Respond to individuals to prevent injury to themselves and others
• Observe and document individuals' behaviors, eating patterns, personal care, etc., to facilitate assessment and treatment goals
• Assist with routine health-care needs under the supervision of medical personnel
• Perform household activities such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, etc.
• Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the individuals
• Assist other team members when needed
• Participate in emergency situations and routine fire drills
• Inspect equipment for malfunctions and report repairs
• Communicate questions, concerns, or issues to appropriate personnel
• Complete daily documentation on a timely basis
• Perform CPR and first aid as needed

Requirements

• Valid driver's license with 12 months driving experience
• High School diploma or GED preferred
• One year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred

Pay and Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week, $18.05 per hour. There are also differentials for evening and overnight shifts.
