DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - PT/12 hrs.

About the role

The Direct Support Professional will follow agency policies and participate in related goals and plans that promote inclusion and social and emotional growth for the individuals we support. The DSP is responsible for the health, well-being, and development of those served and works in conjunction with other staff members to provide the best possible care.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the creation, implementation, and updating of Positive Behavior Support Plans and ISP goals.
  • Support the IMPACT mission, vision, and guiding principles.
  • Must have a valid CT Driver's License and reliable vehicle with current CT registration and insurance.
  • Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration Certification.
  • Essential physical skills to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ of own body weight), push/pull against potential resistance, and implement non-physical and physical intervention and CPR with individuals supported when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related field preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of job experience preferred but will train motivated candidates.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid CT Driver's License and reliable vehicle with current CT registration and insurance.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior support strategies.
  • Basic knowledge of medication administration.

Pay

  • Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm (12 hrs.)
