Direct Support Professional / PRN

About the role

We are hiring for a Direct Support Professional (PRN) role at RHA Health Services. As a positive and personable individual, you will provide support for individuals and/or groups with disabilities in the community as part of waiver services, assist them in identifying and communicating needs, implement services per each person‑centered plan, and seek to understand individuals in the context of their personal history, social/family networks, and hopes for the future. You will work under direction and supervision, wearing many hats—advocate, cheerleader, teacher, shopping partner, role model, coach—to help people identify and achieve their goals and live their best lives in home and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Promote healthy living and prevent illness and accidents.
• Increase awareness of self‑advocacy and support individual choice and decision‑making.
• Accompany people to work, the movies, concerts, shopping, and other community outings.
• Teach independent living skills.
• Provide transportation to appointments.
• Foster positive relationships within the community.
• Promote decision‑making about living, work, and social relationships.
• Assist with personal care and bathing, help around the home (laundry, cleaning, and decorating).
• Document the care you provide.
• Provide education on human, legal, and civil rights.
• Understand diverse challenges of those living with disabilities and use effective advocacy strategies.
• Connect people with resources to further explore opportunities in their career, education, volunteerism, etc.
• Promote effective communication.
• Assist in medication administration where state law allows.
• Protect confidentiality.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Preferred (TN))
• At least 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license

Pre‑employment screening includes a criminal background check, OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, drug testing, education verification, and proof of employment history or references as required. For positions requiring driving, proof of driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle is needed.

Pay

$15.00/hour

Schedule

All shifts to include every other weekend
