About the role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals with disabilities to lead meaningful lives within their communities. You will provide direct care and assistance to individuals in various settings, fostering their independence, promoting their well-being, and enhancing their quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized support and assistance to individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
  • Foster positive relationships with individuals, families, and guardians, promoting effective communication and collaboration to meet the individual's needs and goals.
  • Implement person-centered plans and goals, ensuring the individual's preference, choices, and rights are respected and upheld.
  • Facilitate community integration and participation in recreational, social, and vocational activities, promoting independence and inclusion.
  • Monitor and document individual progress, behaviors, and any significant changes, maintaining accurate records and reports as required.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, following established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, therapists, and case managers, to coordinate comprehensive care and support services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred, but not required; we provide comprehensive training and support for new team members.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with individuals, families, and team members.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for community-based activities and transportation of individuals as needed. If working in a licensed Winter Family Care setting, company vehicles are provided. If providing IHS services, reliable transportation is required.

Pay

$20.50 per hour + shift differentials
