Direct Support Professional - (Maplewood Area)

About the role

Accord is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting people living with disabilities to achieve their personal and career goals. Services include person-centered care to empower, uplift, and transform lives.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-medical care, including supervision and assistance in the home or community.
• Develop relationships with the person supported and their support team.
• Follow through on assigned duties, including outings, ADLs, and supervision.
• Avoid medical tasks but assist with daily living activities such as cooking, showering, and personal care.
• Support the person in becoming more independent and involved in the community through frequent activity outings.
• Assist with walks and supervision while at home and in the community.
• Complete detailed, accurate documentation as assigned.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment.
• Implement individualized care plans and ensure individual's rights are respected.
• Provide companionship and engage individuals in recreational activities.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the individual's primary contact within the scope of service.

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school degree or GED (or equivalent).
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
• Minnesota DHS background study clearance.
• Wi-Fi-enabled device for work-related purposes.
• Basic computer skills.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in working with persons with disabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of person-centered care approach.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy standards.
• Ability to serve as an ambassador of Accord in the community.

Pay

$21.82/hour

Schedule

M-F 7:15am - 2:45pm
