Direct Support Professional - In-Home Respite

About the role

Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an in-home setting in Gulfport, MS.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities
• Provide emotional support
• Supervise community outings
• Support treatment plans in partnership with clinical staff
• Experience assisting others with ADLs preferred
• Act as a model for appropriate behavior
• May provide transportation to and from facilities and to and from activities in the community
• Perform other work-oriented tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Train participants in skills and conduct daily activities
• Train and document for IDD day programs
• Eat lunch on site with participants and take breaks on site
• Remain on site for entire workday, except as authorized by supervisor
• Demonstrate the importance of community involvement, social interactions, and maintaining relationships
• Assist with job exploration, application, and train individuals on job specific duties
• Enhance natural supports in work environment to facilitate individual's independence in the workplace

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Must be able to obtain MS CDL Class C Driver's License within 60 days of hire
• Valid Mississippi Driver's License with satisfactory driving record (no moving violations within 3 years)
• Will pass CPR, MANDT, and other required testing
• Experience working with the IDD population preferred
