About the role
The Arc Madison Cortland is a non-profit agency whose sole purpose lies in the support of people with special needs. We provide leadership in the field of disabilities, supporting people in every manner possible, and developing the necessary human and financial resources to allow all members of our community to achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Provides individualized care as outlined in the individuals Life Plan, or ISP.
- Assists individuals in the primary activities of daily living (toileting, feeding, cooking, cleaning) as outlined in individual’s ISP to promote independence.
- Maintains files and produces service notes and documentation on assigned caseload.
- Documents and submits reports to the program as outlined in the assigned department.
- Maximizes consumer’s social skills in order to enable him/her to live in their community by providing activities in a community setting.
About the ARC’s Respite Program
The Respite Center offers a six-bed home-like atmosphere with trained staff to ensure the best quality of care for individuals with disabilities. Individual stays run Thursday–Sunday where they will receive meals, activities, and trips within the community. Direct Support Professionals are the trained staff who provide 24-hour supervision, care, and guidance to residents. They assist with personal care needs, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid NYS driver’s license and 12 months driving history.
- Six months to one-year related experience and/or training preferred.

Sign-on bonus up to $1,000. New hiring rate: $20.00 per hour. Day and weekend shifts available.
