DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - FT/40 hrs.

About the role

The Direct Support Professional will follow agency policies and participate in related goals and plans that promote inclusion and social and emotional growth for the individuals we support. The DSP is responsible for the health, well-being, and development of those they serve, working in conjunction with other staff members to provide the best possible care.

Responsibilities

  • Follow agency policies and related goals to promote inclusion and social/emotional growth.
  • Provide care for individuals in accordance with their needs and abilities.
  • Create, implement, and update Positive Behavior Support Plans and ISP goals.
  • Support IMPACT's mission, vision, and guiding principles.

Requirements

  • Valid CT Driver's License and reliable vehicle with current CT registration and insurance.
  • CPR/First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration Certification.
  • Essential physical skills including running, squatting, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting at least 50 pounds, pushing/pulling against potential resistance, and implementing non-physical and physical interventions and CPR.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related field preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of job experience preferred but will train motivated candidates.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior support strategies.

  • Sunday - Thursday, 3p - 11p (40 hrs.)
