About the role
Dungarvin is a mission-driven organization dedicated to providing support services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities since 1976. We aim to foster independence and quality of life through person-centered supports.
Responsibilities
- Work 1:1 with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in home and community settings.
- Provide transportation to community events, hobbies, appointments, shopping trips, and other outings/errands.
- Assist with household duties such as cleaning, laundry, meal prep, budgeting, and establishing routines.
- Enrich and support the lives of the persons served while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care.
- Aid in activities of daily living, including community-based supports.
- Help individuals set and achieve goals; assist in overcoming personal barriers.
- Communicate with clients and their families to understand their interests, skills, abilities, goals, and support needs.
- Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
- Periodically assist with personal care assistance and support with prescribed medications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required for the Supported/Community Living Support Program.
- Personal or professional experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or experience in front-facing customer service role and a true passion for helping vulnerable populations.
- Ability to work independently and be resourceful to problem solve without direct supervision.
- Dependable, adaptable, flexible, and effective communication skills.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Able to provide references.
- Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training.
