About the role

Waystone is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential group home setting in Methuen, MA.

You will assist four individuals (ages 22 and up) with activities of daily living, including feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, documentation, and medication administration. You will also transport individuals to appointments and community activities using a wheelchair-accessible van. Overnight staff must remain alert, conduct wellness checks, and provide personal care support as needed.

Schedule

  • Full Time (40 hours per week, benefit-eligible):
    • Saturday - Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
    • Wednesday - Thursday: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM
    • Friday: 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Part Time (less than 25 hours per week, not benefit-eligible):
    • Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM

Pay

Non-exempt hourly rate: $21.63. This position is union-represented by SEIU Local 509.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene (toileting, brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and drive wheelchair-accessible company vans.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support personal goals and promote independence.
  • Complete daily logs, track behavioral data, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Administer medications and maintain related records.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and behavior redirection.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential environment.
  • Uphold individuals’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Maintain required staff-to-resident ratios, manage finances, and provide home management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to follow care plans, document services, and communicate effectively.
  • Experience providing training, case management, or services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification (training provided within 6 months of employment).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (training provided within 3 months of employment).
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with at least one year of driving experience.
