Waystone is seeking a dedicated direct care worker to provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential home setting in Methuen, MA.

About the Role

As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will assist four individuals (ages 22+) with activities of daily living (ADLs), including feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, documentation, and medication administration. You will transport individuals to appointments and community activities using a wheelchair-accessible van. During overnight hours, you will remain alert, conduct wellness checks, and provide personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes.

Schedule

  • Full Time (40 hours per week, benefit-eligible): Monday, Thursday, Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM, Sunday 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Part Time (25+ hours per week, benefit-eligible): Wednesday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Friday & Saturday 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Part Time (less than 25 hours per week, not benefit-eligible): Monday – Friday 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM or Tuesday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Friday 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Pay

Hourly rate: $21.63. This is a non-exempt position, and you will be a union member of SEIU Local 509.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene (toileting, brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and drive wheelchair-accessible company vans.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support personal goals and promote independence.
  • Complete daily logs, track behavioral data, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Administer medications and maintain related records.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and behavior redirection.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential environment.
  • Uphold individuals’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Maintain required staff-to-resident ratios, manage finances, and provide home management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to follow care plans, document services, and communicate effectively.
  • Experience providing training, case management, or services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification (training provided within 6 months of employment).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (training provided within 3 months of employment).
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with at least one year of driving experience.
