Waystone is seeking a dedicated direct care worker to provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential home setting in Haverhill, MA.

About the role

As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will assist four individuals (ages 22+) with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, documentation, and medication administration. You will transport individuals to appointments and community activities using a wheelchair-accessible van. During overnight hours, you will remain alert, conduct routine wellness checks, and provide personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Thursday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Friday: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM

This position is benefit-eligible as of the date of hire and includes union membership with SEIU Local 509.

Pay

Non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $21.63.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene (toileting, brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and drive wheelchair-accessible company vans.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support personal goals and promote independence.
  • Complete daily logs, notes, and track behavioral data.
  • Administer medications and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and behavior redirection.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential environment.
  • Uphold individuals’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Maintain staff-to-resident ratio, manage finances, provide home management, and redirect behaviors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to follow care plans, document services, and communicate effectively.
  • Experience providing training, case management, or services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification (training provided within 6 months of employment).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (training provided within 3 months of employment).
  • Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of one year of driving experience.
