Responsibilities

  • Provide daily engagement and support to adults with IDD in program activities and community integration.
  • Aid in personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, hygiene, and grooming, depending on individual support plans.
  • Foster social skills, independence, and meaningful community participation through structured activities.
  • Lead and facilitate group activities and individualized skill-building experiences aligned with each participant’s interests and goals.
  • Support vocational exploration, community outings, hobbies, or leisure activities as part of a meaningful day agenda.
  • Help participants pursue employment-related activities such as pre-employment training and job coaching, when part of the program model.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including progress notes, incident reports, and daily logs for each participant.
  • Report observations on behavior, participation, goals, progress, and any changes in needs.
  • Contribute to periodic reviews and updates of individual person-centered plans (PCP) as needed.
  • Provide or oversee safe transport to off-site activities, appointments, and community outings when required by the program.
  • Ensure participant safety in community settings, monitor behavior, and follow risk management practices.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff, supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Promote participant self-determination, choice, and dignity, using person-centered practices.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development to improve service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Proof of car insurance.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with adults diagnosed with varying intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work individually as well as within a team.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work with “high-risk” consumers who have development or intellectual disabilities as well as mental illnesses and physical disabilities.
  • Strong desire to provide excellent customer service.
  • Training in CPR/First Aid, Medication administration training if applicable.
  • DDA core trainings.
  • Compassionate and caring nature.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and ability to adapt activities to individual needs.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred).
  • Ability to pass background checks and FBI fingerprinting.
