Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Children's Residential Program

About the role

This full-time position is eligible for rate differentials, with total hourly compensation starting at $20/hour and reaching up to $24.50/hour depending on role and shift. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Tuesday–Saturday, 2:30am–10:30am

Responsibilities

• Evaluate students and develop goals for their Individual Educational Plan.
• Create, differentiate, and implement appropriate lesson plans and educational activities to meet individual student needs.
• Supervise, assist, and train staff, teacher aides, and substitute aides in activities, lessons, classroom management, and ADL skills.
• Ensure all classroom staff act as a unit in program planning, activity development, and implementation.
• Maintain classroom organization, follow schedules, establish routines, and manage behavior, including crisis intervention to ensure student safety with minimal disruption.
• Ensure appropriate educational instruction is implemented by all program staff throughout the school day, including instructional lunch and recreational activities.
• Efficiently and promptly document all necessary student or Center business, such as data sheets, progress reports, NY State Alternate Assessments, lesson plans, communication logs, treatment team summary sheets, and Partnership Summary sheets.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical activities including twisting, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing, sitting, walking, driving, and standing for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
