About the role
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will carry out our Mission of Love by enhancing the quality of life and welfare for our residents.
Responsibilities
- Assisting residents with activities of daily living, including work, recreation and transportation.
- Assisting in maintaining continuity as well as a safe and loving home-like atmosphere.
- Assisting in the development of a monthly activity calendar and implementation of scheduled activities for the residents and a monthly meal plan in collaboration with staff and resident input.
- Communicating with Program Manager/Program Specialist, co-workers and guardians of resident's progress and offers input for the development and evaluation of individual support plans.
- Assuming responsibility for but not limited to maintaining and updating resident records and any other needed information for compliance with regulations.
- Attending in-service and required training programs and staying abreast of current theories and practices in developmentally disabled care.
- Participating in 24 hours of training relevant to human services annually.
- Maintaining current certifications in medication training, CPR and first aid.
- Assisting Program Manager/Specialist with interviewing, supervising and assessment of potential consumers for appropriateness of admission.
- Evaluating and analyzing resident strengths and weaknesses to determine future career possibilities.
- Determining areas of remediation and providing educational materials for residents.
- Functioning as liaison between residential residents, family members, medical and other professional personnel as well as job supervisors.
- Collaborating with the Program Manager/Specialist; may be asked to assist in the development, coordination and review of individual support plans with residents, family members and appropriate agencies.
- Assuming responsibility for accurate distribution and documentation of medication to Residents and staying current on required training.
Requirements
- High School graduate and at least 18 years of age or older.
- Good written, oral, organizational and basic computer skills.
- Act 33 Clearance – will be completed upon employment.
- Current and valid PA Driver's License (required).
Schedule
Part Time | Evenings (2pm - 10pm) | Every Friday and Every other Thursday and Saturday
Pay
$16.59 - $21.60/hour (Based on experience)
