Direct Support Professional - DSP 2

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Performs all duties of DSP 1, ensuring supervision, protection and care of individuals.
• Ensures health, wellness and safety by providing appropriate supervision and support.
• Takes lead during crisis situations, deescalating and directing staff.
• Implements person-centered, individualized plans and behavior support plans.
• Maintains a clean, safe and organized therapeutic environment.
• Administers medication and provides personal care, including ADLs and meal preparation.
• Supports person-centered advocacy and ethical decision-making.
• Facilitates transportation and communication for individuals.
• Provides coverage for other staff as requested.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience as a DSP 1 in a YAI program.
• Foundational certifications: SCIP-R, CPR, AMAP.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands including frequent lifting and moving individuals.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist others.
• Knowledge of specific individual needs and ability to teach ADLs.
• Proficiency with computers and electronic systems.
