About the role
BARC is currently seeking professional, caring, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in our Day Program. In this position, expect to make an impactful and meaningful difference in someone else’s life every day. Services include assisting individuals, promoting personal growth, and helping them reach their goals through daily activities by providing personal care and attending community and social activities. Applicants with no experience or seeking a career change are encouraged to apply—we will train the right candidates.
Responsibilities
- Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals’ goals and plans.
- Transport individuals to and from programs and activities.
- Administer medications and treatments while meeting all guidelines and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect, can exercise their rights and responsibilities, and are protected from abuse or neglect.
- Electronically record daily activities while maintaining confidentiality and complying with all policies and procedures to protect identity, medical, and HIPAA information.
- Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in-person and online).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to obtain Public Passenger Endorsement (PPE) license.
Physical Efforts
- May include extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, with occasional stooping, crouching, or kneeling.
- Positions may require the ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds, push/pull varying weight (e.g., wheelchairs), or safely transfer approximately 35 pounds.
