Direct Support Professional

About the role

Easterseals PORT Health empowers individuals and strengthens communities through its mission. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a critical role by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Aid with daily tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
• Support personal care including bathing, dressing, toiletry, and changing diapers.
• Offer employment support and assist with planning and organizing schedules.
• Document and report in the electronic health system of record.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic housekeeping, nutrition, and safety protocols knowledge.
• Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or willingness to learn.
• Reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance.

Qualifications

• Entry-level, on-the-job training provided.
