About the role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. This is a part-time role with flexible scheduling, ideal for someone who is compassionate, reliable, and eager to help others live more independently.

Location: Rockville, MD

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals in their homes and in the community
• Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, light household tasks, and basic academic or skill-building support
• Encourage social engagement and community integration by supporting clients in activities such as shopping, going to the park, attending events, or participating in hobbies
• Follow and implement individualized support plans and goals tailored to each person’s needs
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities, progress notes, and any incidents, including seizures or other health-related events

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Ability to successfully pass a background check
• Reliable transportation to travel to client homes and community activities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to diverse needs and preferences
• Willingness to assist with personal care and follow detailed support plans

Qualifications

Preferred (not required – we provide training):

• Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Additional education or training in human services or a related field

Pay

$16.00 per hour

Schedule

Varies by client; evening and weekend options available. Typical schedules range from 10–25 hours per week, depending on client needs and your availability.
