About the role
Provide companion support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in a community home setting. Comply with Chapter 6400 Regulations, Department of Human Services standards, and Allegheny Community Home Care policies and procedures. Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the individuals supported. Report to the Allegheny Community Home Care House Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Support the achievement of individuals' personal outcomes.
- Accompany individuals on recreational trips and medical appointments as house staff.
- Engage individuals living within the house with leisure activities such as arts, crafts, and games.
- Provide general assistance to individuals in the home with implementing their activities of daily living.
- Complete documentation as it relates to job responsibilities.
- Communicate and resolve individual concerns with the Allegheny Community Home Care Lead Supervisor.
- Comply with instructions given by the supervisor in the event of a crisis situation.
- Serve as a model for appropriate language, dress, and behavior.
- Receive 24 hours of training annually, relevant to Human Services.
- Receive medication administration training and be allowed to transport individuals in the vehicle or agency vehicle under defined conditions.
- Assume other responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
- Experience: Direct support – 1 year (Required); I/DD – 1 year (Preferred)
- License/Certification: Valid Driver's License (Required)
Pay
$17.00 per hour. A $1,000 signing bonus is offered.
