About the role
Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and other personal care tasks to help individuals look and feel their best.
The DSP may assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines. DSP workers are provided paid training, including New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home.
The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain certifications while handling job-related duties in compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with household maintenance, meal preparation, and shopping.
- Support personal care tasks such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing.
- Accompany individuals to medical appointments and assist with banking.
- Facilitate community integration and attend outings with individuals.
- Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
- Adhere to medical guidelines and Agency policies.
- Safely evacuate individuals in case of an emergency.
- Maintain required certifications and comply with DDS regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 21 years or older with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (daily use of a car on site preferred but not required).
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
- Commitment to assisting individuals with disabilities to participate fully in their community.
- Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
- Ability to work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated team member.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double shifts, to meet program and individual needs.

Pay
$17.50 - $19.00 per hour, with paid training provided by Venture.
Schedule
- Sunday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- Wednesday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- Total: 36 hours per week
