Responsibilities
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Their support needs include, but are not limited to:
- Household maintenance
- Meal preparation
- Shopping
- Bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing
- Assisting with medical appointments and banking
- Supporting participation in community outings
- Administering medications
- Following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals
- Following medical guidelines
- Safely evacuating individuals from the home in the event of an emergency
DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must maintain certifications, handle job related duties in compliance with Agency policies and follow all DDS regulations/policies.
Requirements
- High School Degree or G.E.D.
- Must be 21+ years old
- Valid driver’s license
- Daily use of a car on site (preferred but not required)
- Available by telephone for daily contact

- Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
- Varied interests and personal connections in the local community
- Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
- Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team

Pay
$17.50–$19.00 per hour
Schedule
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday 2 p.m.–10 p.m.
Part-Time: 40 Hours
Sign on Bonus
$1000 for New Full Time Employees
