Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures safety of program participant while at program site; agency locations, community locations and all day program locations.
- Reports incidents and follows agency’s procedure as mandated reporter and notifies respective parties as needed (management, QA department, NYS Justice Center).
- Provides 11 supervision to program participant and implements proactive strategies as identified in person’s support plan or as guided by clinical/management team.
- Provides direct intervention when program participant is exhibiting behaviors.
- Provides support to program participant to engage in meaningful activities and communicates information relevant to the team to determine an appropriate schedule for program participant.
- Transports program participant to and from day program/agency locations and any community-based activities.
- Provides support to program participant to interact appropriately with other peers, staff, and community members.
- Reports program participant’s success/satisfaction and/or problems/concerns encountered during daily activities to clinical/management team.
- Participates in meetings to discuss development and strategies for program participant’s success.
- Ensures completion of all daily documentation for program participant and provides daily updates to clinical/management team.
- Provides coverage as needed to other program participants and site locations.
- Completes and maintains all mandatory trainings.
- Participates in additional training as determined based on program participant’s needs.
- Mentors new Direct Support Staff.
- Promotes and reinforces all agency philosophies including the guiding principles/POM and CQL at primary site and all other agency, community volunteer jobs and all other hub sites.
- Performs additional duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Qualified NYS Driver’s License and needs to be and remain a Qualified driver.
- AMAP/First Aid/CPR/SCIP-R Training required.
- One year experience supporting people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders preferred.
Physical Aspects
- May include, but are not limited to, lifting and transferring of an adult volunteer.
- Transportation/Driving as needed, inclusive of wheelchair vehicle/lockdowns.
