Purpose

Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Direct Juvenile Support Worker/Coach Counselor at The Dermott Juvenile Treatment Center (DJTC).

About the Role

The Dermott Juvenile Treatment Center (DJTC) is a secure residential program for at-risk male youth ages 18-21. It promotes a normalized high school experience, offers a safe environment, and provides opportunities for positive change.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for youth
  • Build relationships with youth to support their personal and academic growth
  • Implement and facilitate various programs designed to promote positive behavior and learning
  • Support the educational needs of youth through tutoring and other academic assistance
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the overall well-being and safety of the youth

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Pass a criminal background check, drug, physical, and TB test
  • Pass a search of the child and adult abuse central registry

Qualifications

  • Passing the Essential Skills Training with Rite of Passage Team
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights (4 days on/3 off), days (31/2 days on/31/2 off), and both day and night shifts

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and trauma-informed care

Pay & Schedule

  • Pay rate: $17.75 - $18.82 per hour
  • Schedule: Nights (4 days on/3 off), Days (31/2 days on/31/2 off), and both day and night shifts
  • Day Shift: 7am – 9pm (14-hour shift *2-hour break *)
  • Night Shift: 9pm – 7am (10-hour shift *No-hour break *)
