Full-time, 1st shift position at Ingalls Shipbuilding, the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economic growth of Alabama. U.S. citizenship is not required for this position. Occasional travel (10%-25% of the time) is expected.

About the Role

Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Participates in the negotiation of contracts and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contracts.

Acts as the primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Establishes design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test. Develops new business or expands the product line with customers. Establishes milestones, monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems, and obtains solutions such as resource allocation or changing contractual specifications.

Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas.

Requirements

  • Apprentice Certification, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent
  • 10 years of applicable, progressive technical, professional, and/or supervisory work experience
  • Thorough understanding of construction, manufacturing processes, and operations
  • Sheetmetal or Joiner project management and technical background
  • Familiarity with field processes and procedures, including Sheetmetal and Joiner processes, unit outfitting, insulation, and uptake manufacturing
  • Experience in manpower planning, skill mix management, and multiple cost center and work station control management
  • Proficiency in EVMS and experience as a CAM of multiple cost centers within Sheetmetal/Joiner department processes
  • Knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Broad experience across all classes of ships currently being constructed
  • Graduate of apprentice school (preferred)
